Care

Exotic Skins:

While exotic skins are a luxurious and dependable material, they are also sensitive to elements like heat, light, moisture, and oils that could cause it to deteriorate over time. It is important to take preventative steps in order to prevent damage, excessive wear, and also to prolong the life of your purchase. The information below is designed to help you care for your CCCXXXIII functional work of art.

For all of our products, please reference the care card or our FAQs for basic care instructions.

Crocodile

Storing:

  • Store in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Cover in a box or dust bag to prevent dust from settling on its surface.
  • Do not fold or stress the crocodile skin, allow it to lay naturally with plenty of space and nothing sitting on top of it.

Maintenance & Cleaning:

  • Occasionally dust using a soft, dry cloth to maintain the natural radiance.
  • Do not use chemicals or cleaners on the crocodile skin. This includes cleaning and care products for conventional leathers or exotic skins. The glazed finish applied to crocodile skin is a thin, fragile layer that can be eroded by these solvents.
  • For basic cleaning use a damp white cotton cloth dipped in warm water. Wipe the surface clean, then dry immediately with a white cotton cloth. Ensure the skin is completely dry before putting back into storage.
  • If a deep cleaning is needed, we recommend bringing the product to a professional. Ask what type of cleaner and conditioner they use. Never assume they know what is best for your product. Be sure to find a professional cleaner who has extensive experience with crocodile.

Ostrich

Storing:

  • Store in a cool, dark, and dry place when not in use.
  • Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Cover in a box or dust bag to prevent dust from settling on its surface.
  • Do not fold or stress the skin, allow it to lay naturally with plenty of space and nothing sitting on top of it.

Maintenance & Cleaning:

  • For accidental spills, use a slightly damp cloth to treat the damaged area as soon as possible, blotting not rubbing.
  • If the product is exposed to oil, first use a thin layer of talc to dry up the oil from the surface and remove the talc with a dry cloth or soft brush.
  • If a deep cleaning is needed, we recommend bringing the product to a professional. Ask what type of cleaner and conditioner they use. Never assume they know what is best for your product. Be sure to find a professional cleaner who has extensive experience with ostrich skin.

Leather:

Leather is one of nature’s most remarkable materials. Soft and strong, our hides are hand selected and treated with utmost care during the crafting of your CCCXXXIII product. It is important to take preventative steps in order to prevent damage, excessive wear, and also to prolong the life of your purchase. The information below is designed to help you care for your CCCXXXIII functional work of art.

Storing:

  • If storing for a long period of time, cover in a box, wrap in paper tissue, or dust bag.
  • Do not store in a plastic bag as this could cause the leather to dry out, become brittle, or crack.
  • Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures.

Maintenance & Cleaning:

  • Clean regularly using the provided CCCXXXIII microfiber cloth, or a soft cloth, dusting the surface frequently.
  • Invest in a high-quality leather conditioner or moisturizer to keep the leather from drying out. Follow the package instructions for application.
  • When cleaning leather with any product, we advise to use a ‘damp’ not ‘wet’ soft cloth like microfiber or cotton t-shirt. Always finish with a dry soft cloth. Ensure the leather is completely dry before putting back into storage.

Velvet:

Velvet is a transformative luxury fabric that exudes quality and style. However, not all velvet is created equal. Velvet refers to the weave and not the fabric. For our bespoke products, we use high-quality silk velvet. As such, it is important to take preventative steps in order to prevent damage, excessive wear, and also to prolong the life of your purchase. The information below is designed to help you care for your CCCXXXIII functional work of art.

Storing:

  • Always store velvet items in the provided dust bag or box to protect it from dust, sun and heat damage.
  • Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures.

Maintenance & Cleaning:

  • Brush your velvet with a soft brush on a regular basis to keep dust and other damaging elements from settling into the material.
  • If wet, soft blot the area with a dry cloth. Then, if necessary, use a hair dryer at a safe distance on low to speed up this process. Once dry use a soft brush to un-mat the velvet and return it to its original luster. The soft brush can be a baby brush or soft toothbrush; these are structural enough to help clean but soft enough to not cause damage to the velvet fibers.

Gold:

Gold is a soft precious metal that has a tendency to accumulate signs of wear over time with scratches, dents, or tarnishing. As such, it is important to take preventative steps in order to prevent damage, excessive wear, and also to prolong the life of your purchase. The information below is designed to help you care for your CCCXXXIII functional work of art.

Storing:

  • Handle with care and avoid storing along side other sharp surfaces or metals that might scratch or dent the gold.
  • Avoid activities that may result in potential impact to the gold.
  • Avoid exposing the gold to intense sources of heat and extreme temperature changes.

Maintenance & Cleaning:

  • When cleaning gold use warm water and a damp, not wet, soft sponge or cloth to rub and polish the gold parts. Always follow up with a dry towel so that moisture is not lingering on your gold, this can create spots.
  • Invest in a jewelry cloth, or use the provided microfiber cloth, to polish your gold on a regular cadence.
  • Avoid chemicals or abrasive materials on your CCCXXXIII gold hardware as it can cause damage to the finish and shine.
